Tdot_Photoshoot_Portrait_Studio

Hello, this is Jane back with a new post for introductory studio portrait photography. I got to know photography from high school where they offered a class using manual film camera and a photo lab for black&white photography. Camera have been on my shoulder hanging ever since. I take photos for fun and guess it's like writing a diary, recording everyday. I find myself taking at least one photo daily. It became a unconscious habit almost haha! I'm sure many of you agree.

Anyway, I had a fun project with my awesome friend Erin. We both very much participated for this from, outfit, make-up, concept and ect. I go to an art school in Toronto and have excess to the very basic documentation studio where you would document your work. Therefore there's no fancy lighting or backdrop, sad… not being in photo major.. Erin and I prepared big white plastic table cloth for the backdrop and white thick styrofoam for reflector use at dollar store! They sure do have everything!

This was totally an experiment and attempt to exercise editing and learn about lighting as we are new to studio setting. We had 2 basic lighting available in the studio, tried different angle and softness of the light to see what worked better.  3 reserved hrs passed by really fast. End of the day, we learned different aspect in studio sets and what other issues were to be considered for next time. It's always good to try things if you are not familiar with it. Which we did and was useful.

Thank you for reading, and here are 2 best shot of Erin!

YSL Volupte Shine 09 Nude in Private

Hello all! It's Vivian again:)

Ever since I started blogging, I've been falling back in love with my old makeup purchases. The product that I rediscovered its charm the most is YSL's Volupte shine and Volupte sheer lipsticks. They are perfect for the fall/winter weather when my lips are usually very dry  because of their butter-like texture.

Today I would like to introduce you to my YSL Volupte Shine 09 Nude in Private.

Earnest Ice Cream | Seriously Good

Viv and I have a new favorite ice cream shop in Vancouver. According to their website, this amazing scoop shop opened in 2012 but it was not only recently I was introduced to it via my colleague. They offer the classics like salted caramel but few delightful twists like strawberry balsamic or whisky hazelnut. Happy dance for our tongues everyone!

This place is SO popular, there were literally 50 people waiting from the counter all the way to & after 2 neighboring stores out on the street. There are people patiently waiting chattering excitement. Some of them are holding the empty mason jars, to return them and to buy new ready packed pints.

Barr-co. Eau De Parfum

Hello, this is Vivian. How was your day? I don't know if it is because of the rain and gloomy skies but I have been feeling a bit depressed lately. In the futile attempt to make you feel you've got the glass half full, please watch the following video called 'My Cousin Oskaar'!

But if I were to blame the weather for my recent depression, I like to pamper myself wearing my favorite fragrance as a cure. Recently, I have fallen in love with Barr-Co.'s Eau De Parfum.

My Wedding Day

My wedding took place in May this year. As a bride-to-be I was checking for the weather starting 2 months in advance, especially we were going to get married under a big tree outside by Jericho Beach in Vancouver (Brock House). BUT Noooo...we were blessed with true Vancouver wedding where it was sunny everyday and it decided to pour down on my wedding day only. It was brilliantly sunshiny the day after, of course. Despite my worries, I think it added more colors to it and made it more romantic!

DIY Homemade Candle

I got the idea of making my own candle after learning that my favorite store bought candles may not be the healthiest and smartest choices. And it's easy to make & also is a great gifting idea!

Sunday morning breakfast: Cast Iron

Welcome to your Sunday morning and to the last day of the sweet sweet weekend.  It seems like the general consensus is Friday evening is the most exciting time then the heat comes down a tad on Saturday, then Sunday is almost blue with thoughts of Monday Sickness. Well, instead of feeling sad and beaten down, I decided to light up my last weekend with a simple & hearty breakfast meal using my cast iron.

Have you ever drooled over the breakfast scene on "Haul's moving castle"?

Buongiorno Venezia!

Venice is one of the cities that I encounter in Hollywood movies quite often: couple of 007 movies including Casino Royal, the Tourist, and Italian Job! I have been to Venice for the second time now and it probably is one of the most stunningly beautiful cities I've been to.

Being surrounded by water, and that's quite literally, visiting Venice in gorging summer may not be the greatest idea. You will still enjoy it and its beauty & the romance never goes away, but one may be drained from the heat and the humidity more easily. I remember my last visit in August of 2011 somewhat close to my above description. This time was middle of October for Canadian thanksgiving week. It was just perfect! Now please join me in my photo journal for my trip to Venezia!
